Las Vegas Golden Knights vs. Florida Panthers game 5

Game 5

Let me be clear that from the start of this series that my system was shouting Golden Knights and my heart, which by the way is NEVER involved in how I break down any investment matter, was all about the Panther.

I think that between what the kid Tkachuk and master motivator Maurice have done in Florida that I have become supportive of their efforts and I still yearn for a seven-game series.

Looking across the ice, this LVGK bunch is absolutely Cup worthy and what the organization has done in six years is amazing no matter how this series ends. Front office prowess, keen coaching, deep talented teams and home game theatrics are a Vegas trademark.

What Vegas has created in six years a handful of NHL teams could only dream of doing. In fact, there must be plenty of envy among the Buffalo’s and Toronto’s of the puck world that can’t seem to understand that one must play insular hockey if you want your city to hoist!

I congratulate the Las Vegas Golden Knights not only for their success this year but well more importantly for what they’ve done for this sport of Hockey in a gambling sense these last seven years.

Here’s a true story.

One day seven years ago before the Cup Final series but after VSiN had launched I was going onto the air with Matt Youmans to break down the CWS and Stanley Cup.

When Youmans asked then guest Sportsbook director Jimmy Vaccaro if he got “any play in the CWS or hockey”, Jimmy’s response was a dead pan “no” as he walked off the set!

My, my how far has Puck passion come in seven years!

I’m tickled for Golden Knight Cup success because I make a living on this sport and to see hockey thrive, grow and seed passion comes second only to profiting on it.

Tonight, we’ve earned cheese and we’re going to spend some:

Florida +180 and rising .5u

Panthers opened +140 which is higher than game 1 and 2 so the ‘Makers knew what they were lining….. now it’s +180 with Tkachuk out. Wait then jump the best price.

Over 6 ev .5u

Tally’s tonight

Florida series +850 .25u

Just win this game 5…

Oh, and have I mentioned our Marchessault +700 ticket?

Stanley Cup Final Florida vs. Las Vegas: What do the Hockey gods say?

To me it’s as simple as the hockey gods.

Yes, the hockey gods have a say in what happens on the ice in a Cup final and with regard to the Golden Knights, it’s my take that that while that the team and the players comprising it are most deserving, their fans and the city surely are not.

It takes some historical perspective to make my comment understandable. Take for instance, Toronto who have been through so much strife trying to simply GET to a Cup final. Then what about the Sabres fans in Buffalo, they’ve been mired in puck mediocrity for decades. I could go on….

Bottom line is this, the Knights won’t win the Cup because they don’t have the team to do it but that their fans and city have simply not served the appropriate time in order to earn it. If you don’t believe me just watch the rest of the series……Vegas have not served the time to earn the Cup.

I believe Panther legs are about to become what they needed to be three games ago when this series began and I believe the team that wins this game 4 tonight will win the Stanley Cup!

Stanley Cup game 3 Florida vs. Las Vegas

Tonight, we discover if the Florida Panthers can activate their frenetic playoff feet and earn victory over a deep, formidable ‘from the goal out’ Golden Knight group.

As I mentioned prior to the series, a sure momentum changer and the perfect way to quell a red hot netminder is to give him more than a week off before the Stanley Cup Final. Florida must find a way to ‘believe’ once they can sip a little belief this whole series can change…just as the Bruins who were in command of their series with the panthers before Florida found their legs.

From the beginning of this series my head said, Vegas and over, I see little reason to stray from that. My system has the Knights +108 as a play tonight and I’ve not strayed all playoff season from what my model has advised….so I simply can’t get cute now even though I really want to see a six or seven game competitive Stanley Cup Final.

Who knows maybe the model we’ve been riding blows a lug nut but the play is..

Over 6 -110 1u outlay

Go Panthers

Stanley Cup Final Vegas vs. Florida Game 2

Welcome Puckheads to Game II of the Stanley Cup Final.

In game 1, Florida opened the period up with nimbler, quicker feet and more timing offensively than I had expected. Then in periods 2 and 3 their game became choppy and mistimed.

Tonight, I look for Vegas to continue to apply pressure offensively, for they can insulate netminder Hill by not only protecting him with blueliners but by attacking the Panthers at their underbelly as Florida allows 35.3 shots against per game.

Vegas gaining the lead is their team mandate.

Tonight, Florida must find a way to capture the ‘lightning in a bottle’ that is the offensive brilliance displayed in previous series, followed up by Bobrovsky calisthenics between the pipes.

I believe that the winner of tonight’s game wins this series.

To date: 51-41 +22.90u

Brutha Shue’s Preakness Stakes breakdown

 2023 Preakness Stakes

Welcome to Brutha Shue’s 2023 Preakness breakdown. Shue returns to GambLou after having covered the Nags for me since college days which is almost before horse racing!

Anyway, Shue’s perspective is keen and over the year’s we’ve cashed many times.

I’ll offer my bets after his breakdown.

GL to everyone.

—————————————————

Lou, first of all, the #8, FIRST MISSION (5-2), was scratched early Friday – and a viable contender he was.  So now, an already short field just got shorter.

I’m going to fade #3 MAGE (8-5) a bit here and roll with Rosario and Asmussen and the #5, RED ROUTE ONE (10-1).  He’s a super deep closer who scorched the field in his most recent effort in the Bath House Row Stakes, reeling in eight horses in a mad dash to the wire, closing that last furlong in 11 seconds!

A slow pace here will not help him or Mage for that matter, but just hoping Joel will get Red rolling early to catch the leaders.

The #6, PERFORM (15-1) is another one who can close quickly.  Although he has not run-in great company, maybe ole’ Shug will have him ready to hit a 90+ Beyer for the first time and get him to…Perform!  He too, will be 10 lengths off the lead going into the far turn – so yes, he will also come from way, way back.

I think these two will make for an exciting finish to get to the wire first at Pimlico.  MAGE (8-5) perhaps to hold on to 2nd after being nipped at the wire…maybe?

Shue’s wagers

 $20.00: W-P-S #5 Red Route One (10-1) $60.00

$5.00: W-P-S #6 Perform (15-1)               $15.00

$5.00: EX Box 3-5-6                                       $30.00

Lou’s wagers

Right now, I’m going to take the #9 Fiaza, the Baffert chalk in the Black-Eyed Susan as the first leg in a Black-Eyed Susan to Preakness daily double.
Leg two: I’ll use the #1 National Treasure 4/1 (Baffert has something to prove?) who will now probably be bet hard and the #5 Shue’s Red Route One (10/1)

I’ll bet $20.00 on each DD wager for a total of $40.00 which is in play today.

I’ll pipe in again tomorrow with Preakness positions!

Wales Conference Final

Wales Conference Final: Carolina vs. Florida

Great hockey is about to come our way and after as much time off as they took, look for ‘hockey’ to be played for a game or two before we see any real ‘passion’ or ‘hatred’ begin to emerge.

The time off (6 days for the Panther and a week for the Canes) helps both teams in the long run but hurts aspirations of a balanced, timing laden offensive attack by either team early in the series as I see it.

In a macro sense, I look for netminders to finally begin to emerge in this round and with them the Under in more of these games. I’ve been judicious in my Under releases (2-0) but I do believe we’ll see more stellar netminding, defense and ‘from the goal out’ execution begin to make marked pronouncements in this round.

So, again perhaps we see some choppy, off balance, low scoring contests in the first few nights of this round until these razor blades get their legs underneath them?

Saturday UFC and NHL Stanley Cup Tournament

Kraken +148 .5u

OK puck heads last night I graded the Oil/Leaf Cup fantasy future (L) along with the Toronto series prop bust and the Panther series prop win. The Knights ‘from the goal out’ puck philosophy/performance corralled the Oil to add .72u to our coffers so with the round robin series prop bet’s outstanding and our futures aside we enter today’s puck passion profitably:

34-29 +13.03u 26% ROI

I want that damn Round Robin but that gets settled tomorrow.

Just a few games remain to complete this second round. On deck: The Campbell Cup and the Prince of Wales Trophy!

Today what’s important is getting the Kraken to win on home ice thus sending that series into a 7th contest which insures we not only hit the RR but our Seattle +1.5 -120 game prop placed at the beginning of the round.

They’re dropping frozen rubber at 4pm today. I have the UFC bouts this am at 9am so I’ll work the UFC then post any puck passion positions later today right here.

For my ‘Bout Business Podcast please access the ‘UFC’ tab at the top of this webpage to be taken to the direct link.
